The Portable Bermuda Triangle.
Jun. 28th, 2008 04:19 pmHandbags aren't really my thing - I used to prefer a small backpack, but with school life I've already got a huge backpack and now need a handbag for all the personal stuff.
My old handbag only had one big compartment with a small zip-up pocket inside. Not very practical, especially when you've left it at home and are at school worrying about the whereabouts of your wallet and call the boyfriend to check whether it's safely inside the handbag, because he will not find the zip-up pocket with the wallet and sent you into panic mode.
With the new handbag - which I got from his parents for my birthday but which he chose after going to lots of shops - this is less likely to happen, because it's got lots of compartments and is thus less of a black hole than the old one.
Here it is:

It's simple and black and I'm still looking for a keyring or some other colourful attachments to spice it up a little.
Here you can see inside:

And that's what I found inside yesterday:

This is basically what I always carry around with me - notice the chalk in the metal box and the empty camera bag. The turquoise envelope is a gift card my students gave me for a chain selling perfume and make-up. My mobile is horribly outdated and almost always switched off. The scrap of paper in the background shows the classes I'll be teaching after the holidays. My wallet needs to be freed from receipts and other junk.

Yep, it's a Moleskine - it was part of the birthday present package and I love it. The boyfriend remembered how I always looked at them lovingly in the shops but never bought one because they're relatively expensive.

Date: 2008-06-28 04:06 pm (UTC)Yep, we've only got a whiteboard in the computer room (and there are never any working pens around...). The problem though is that the chalk we've got is this cheap yucky stuff and that we still use a sponge and water to clean the blackboard, so there's either loads of chalky dust around which makes me cough or chalky water around which makes the skin on my fingers really itchy and dry.
I'd prefer it if we had proper dustfree chalk and used one of those duster thingies I know from schools in NZ and England, but no, we're still soooo last century. Maybe I'll do a pencil case version of the meme to show you the chalk holder I've got which has helped my hands a lot.

Date: 2008-06-28 04:37 pm (UTC)In my experience it depends on the quality of the chalk - with the really good pure chalk and a good duster there's not much dust flying around.
With water you get soggy chalk and then that creates a huge mess and everyone has to wait for the board to dry until they can actually see something.

Date: 2008-06-28 04:33 pm (UTC)1) I actually use several handbags, not just one, that I change to match the colour of my outfit (I know, I know...).
2) The inside of my handbags would be too revealing...it's quite itimate so I'd probbaly end up cheating and concealing certain items.

Date: 2008-06-28 04:44 pm (UTC)I do have several other bags, but changing them around would mean forgetting the things I need to have with me. Also, the other handbags are considerably smaller and only get an outing on special occasions.
Hmm, now you've made me curious as to what you carry around with you that you don't want anyone to see... But you're right, there is a certain mystery to the female handbag and most males are really reluctant to have a look inside. (And not just because they might find tampons.)
