Behind the cut you will find two pictures. Can you tell me what happened here? It may take a team effort.

Have fun working it out!

Prize still to be decided.

Half eaten apples at a zoo? Hmmm tricky.

Heehee, it's not exactly a zoo, but sometimes it feels that way....

I was actualy thinking more along the lines of you turning that picture upside down. If you turn it around it might be subway vents (is that what you call them in English? You know the thing Marilyn Monroe was standing above in her white dress...) But as to why those apples ar lieing there: I've got no clue. Especialy taken into account they're half eaten apples. It's the monkeys at your school, right?

No, the pictures aren't upside down.

You're right about the location though.

There must some optical illusion there...maybe a glass on which the apples would be actually and the reflection of a metal grate on that same glass ?

That still doesn't explain why the apples seem to hanging from the ceiling. And I think the metal grate looks too clear to e a reflection. If we'ree talking reflection then the apples must be a reflection in a glass plate in front of the metal grate. But that doesn't really work either... I'm still going for upside down picture...

You've got all the pieces in place - you just need to find an explanation for the phenomenon.

I'm enjoying this...

As much as I love reflections, it's not the case here.

Apart from one tiny, but important detail, you're absolutely right.

Your students tossed half-eaten apples in the air and they got stuck in the ceiling ?

Yay! You win!

Now I've got to decide on the award....

Actually it was the first thing I thought of (ours usually only tossed chewing-gums though)...but then I told myself "No, it's too obvious...and she wouldn't take picture of THAT!" LOL

Sometimes it's really that simple!

When I spotted the apples I thought the sight was rather surreal and yeah, I take pictures of the weirdest things.

I thought about apples being stuck to the ceiling, but I wondered what ceiling looks like this? It's hideous. :-p

Ah wait, it's the students' shelter for the rain, right?

Yes, but it's also part of the actual building. Gah, I'm crap at explaining architectural features in English. You can walk through from part of the schoolgrounds to the other and the administrative offices are above this shelter.

Oh, but I've got a fairly good picture of it then. We had something like that at our secondary school: there were class rooms on top of it. The ceiling was concrete though.
