On holiday.

Though I'm not really a morning person I like getting up early on bright summer days. I like being woken by the light. I enjoy listening to the swifts and the sounds from outside the window. It's still cool and there's a breeze. I like that I don't have to be somewhere at a certain time and can just potter around.

There's a mountain of photocopies and other teaching material and paperwork on the livingroom floor that I plan on filing away in the next days.

I'm a bit daunted by the thought of having to make plans and phone calls and appointments, but today I'm trying not to let myself worry too much about that. Though maybe, just maybe, if I made plans and appointments, I'd have some structure to the coming weeks and also something to look forward to.

What do you like about the summer holidays?

I like being outside in the evening, hanging out with friends while it gets dark and then staying outside long into the night because it's still warm. I like the way pine trees smell in summer nights. I like sleeping late!
