Taking stock.
Feb. 11th, 2008 07:30 pmGood:
Saturday saw a very successful shopping spree - several new tops, a lovely pair of shoes, black jeans and various other small items were acquired and I didn't have to pay for most of them. They were a late Christmas present from my parents.
I completed some ugly school paperwork and did a bit of marking.
While there's still frost in the morning, the afternoons are sunny and warm with a hint of spring.
Bad:
School is a challenge at the moment. I'm not getting the support I was promised which weakens my position.
I've got nasty blisters on both feet, because we walked into town and back. The weather was just too gorgeous, but as I was wearing high heels I decided to wear my new flat shoes on the way back. Bad decision and so typical. After about ten minutes my heels were raw and I had to change shoes again and put band-aids on my feet in the middle of Little Japan.
There is still some marking to be done and prep for tests and exams. I'm not looking forward to the next months which will be incredibly busy.
I slept badly and had the weirdest dreams.
How was your weekend? And dare I ask, how was your Monday?

Date: 2008-02-11 06:59 pm (UTC)I wore high heels today too and didn't have another pair to change so, even though I avoid blisters, my feet hurt a lot too at the end of the day. I should have known better and not wear those shoes the day I teach until 18:10!
Speaking of weird dreams I had one last night too. I was supposed to go to a gig (yes it was Tom McRae's!)and had waited a while outside but at the last moment I went back to my hotel room (the hotel was next to the venue) and managed to lock myself out while I had left my purse and therefore the concert ticket in...I had also left my shoes in the room, and the concert was about to begin so I returned to the venue without my ticket and but with slipper in my pockets (for some reaosn I didn't wear them so I went bare foot!). I managed to get into the venue(the venue staff let me) but I was still sans shoes.
It isn't the first time that I had a dream in which I couldn't find my shoes or found myself not wearing any!

Date: 2008-02-11 09:10 pm (UTC)At least you had socks...I usually went to school bare foot.
What does it tell about me that I still dream of that situation?

Date: 2008-02-11 09:19 pm (UTC)I still have dreams in which I need to find something very important, but it's not the shoes anymore. Sometimes I need to find something important, and i'm running around looking for it, while part of me says "I've got no idea what I'm looking, but it's important, that's all I know."
And running away from someone or something, so you end up waking up even more tired then when you went to sleep.
I must have dreamt quite a lot last night, but I have forgotten most of it by now. I only recall a certain feeling of anxiety. Must have been the thought of having to get up on time in the morning.

Date: 2008-02-11 09:04 pm (UTC)So typical in any job. "Oh we'll be behind you," but when pull comes to shove (or how does theat saying go?) they just forget about it and are on your own.
*hugs*
If you want to vent, you know where I am.
My weekend was good. I had a wonderful Saturday afternoon with my friend J. We had a nice shopping spree in Ghent. On Sunday I prepared my classes, and was finished on time to watch some telly and call it an early night.
Unfortunately my body hates having to get up in the morning and just randomly wakes up all through the noght thinking it's time to get up. My lesson prep wasn't as good as I thought. And well the kids weren't that nice after the break. No it wasn't a fun Monday. Hope yours was better.

Date: 2008-02-12 06:18 pm (UTC)I think it's push not pull. ;-) Which reminds me of the Gary Larson cartoon in which a boy is standing in front of a door with a big sign above it "School for the Gifted" and a small sign saying Pull and of course the boy is pushing with his full body-weight.
Thanks for the offer of letting me vent - I had a long day again today and it will be the same tomorrow, so it might have to wait a while. Today saw a rather grudgingly offered promise of support - we'll see how it goes.
I woke up a couple of times too that night and I think I'm coming down with an early case of "Frühjahrsmüdigkeit", literally spring tiredness which is the exact opposite of spring fever.
*yawns*

Date: 2008-02-12 07:15 pm (UTC)Ah yes, pushing and showing does sound a bit more rational than pulling and shoving. At least I got half of the sounds correct. ;-)

Date: 2008-02-12 07:26 pm (UTC)Coffee doesn't seem to have any effect on spring tiredness - I had two mugs at school and they didn't wake me up in the slightest.

Date: 2008-02-12 08:08 pm (UTC)Anyways my mama called for something, noticed my crankyness, told me to drink a cup of coffee, which ended up working. Or maybe sitting in my chair by the window looking out over the city that reflected the last rays of sun did the trick.

Date: 2008-02-11 09:51 pm (UTC)Your weather sounds just like ours - it was very frosty and cold this morning but very warm and sunny once the sun came up properly.
It's also so much lighter in the morning. Today I didn't have to turn on my bedroom light to get dressed at 7.30! It was light enough to open the curtains and see by the sun! :)
Spring is coming!!!!
