On holiday.
Dec. 19th, 2007 06:51 pmLet's see. Have we managed to get through the list?
1. Annual staff Christmas party: Did that yesterday. There was traditional live music and singing of Christmas carols. I had a ton of yummy food I probably shouldn't have eaten.
2. Clearing my desk at school: Yep, managed to do that yesterday while waiting for a meeting with my history colleagues. Threw out lots of useless paper and made a neat pile of some brochures I'll need after the holidays. I could have put them in my cupboard, but then my desk would have been completely empty and that would have looked odd.
3. Gift exchange with my form: All presents were handed to the intended recipients. The boy who got a cabbage was rather disappointed.
4. Annual football tournament: Yep, after last year's narrow defeat in the final the boys from our year managed to secure a spot in the hall of fame and won. Having a goalie who plays for the national team was very helpful.
5. Fridge and sink status check: After coming back from the tournament we found a deserted staffroom. We chucked the yoghurt that was three months past its sell-by-date in the bin, ate the last bits of Stollen as well as two of the apples (but had to throw out the rest of the fruit) and washed the hidden dishes our colleagues had missed.
6. Walked up to the secretaries' office and wished them Happy Holidays.
Still to do:
7. Tackling the mess that is my desk at home.
8. Three different piles of marking.
9. All my marks for this term.
10. Some paperwork and two reports full of praise for a trainee teacher.
The sensible thing to do would be to finish all of this within the next four days.
