Aug. 23rd, 2007 07:34 pmThe school week is already over for me and I'm very glad about that. It's been stressful. After a cold and mostly grey day yesterday, this afternoon had sunshine and it was slightly muggy. Now the sun is still out, but there are huge raindrops pounding on the roof. It's a very soothing sound.I can't see the rainbow from our windows, but it must be somewhere behind the house. Ooops, there goes the thunder.
This is Silves, a medieval town on a hill with a castle on top and a cathedral.

This is Igreja de São Lourenço outside of Almancil famous for the fact that the entire walls are decorated with handpainted azulejos which is absolutely stunning but not to be photographed by ordinary people.

This panel on the outside of the church is rather boring in comparison.

Igreja de São António in Lagos is all golden inside, but again, I can only show you the outside. Right next to it is the local museum which houses the most eclectic collection starting in prehistoric times progressing to some Roman artefacts and then some local folk art and depictions of rural life as well as African art brought back from the Portuguese colonies, money from all over Europe and some other oddities.

This is another Lagos church, but it has to remain nameless:

To those who noticed the filename: That's the wrong church.

I had hoped you'd like the description of the rain. It's nice and sunny again today.
Did your business trip go alright?

Date: 2007-08-25 02:01 pm (UTC)I can only imagine! I don't function well in the heat, especially if it's humid. I'm rather glad that I live in temperate climes.
