I didn't get a good night's sleep and this made me cranky and confused. How much? Read it here:

I wandered around school in a daze and felt absolutely naked because I had left my watch at home. I had to keep asking my students for the time and got slightly bewildered stares in return and reluctant answers. I registered the odd looks, but couldn't quite figure out what was wrong. I also moaned about my missing watch to some of my colleagues.

Two hours later, I needed to know the exact time again. I asked the girl standing next to me and her expression was so puzzled that I finally took a look at my left wrist. There it was! I'd been checking my right arm - where I usally wear my watch - and I'd had my watch the whole time, just not where I expected it to be.

Come on, laugh at me!

Also, a request for school: I need a recording of "Rule Britannia" - no matter what version, raucous football fans or whatever. If you've got one sitting around on your hard drive, could you send it to me please? Cheers.

Lol! ;-)

Ok, I'm only laughing because it sounds like something I would do, only in reverse. Because I normally wear my watch on the left.

I think that's part of the problem:

I used to wear my watch on the left, but as I'm left-handed I often took it off while writing and then lost it somewhere. The boyfriend being the practical person he is suggested that I wear it on the right, which I've been doing for a couple of months now, but in my fuzzy head I forgot all about that!

Pointing and laughing. :-p

I simply don't get how you can change wrists for your watch. I've always worn it left, because I'm right handed. Now I haven't worn my watch for ages, because the battery ran low, and I couldn't be bothered to get a new one. So instead I do what most people do nowadays: look at my mobile instead.

See above for reasons why one would change wrists...
I don't do the mobile thing, because I don't want to set a bad example for the students and we don't have clocks in all the rooms, which is why I need the wrist watch.

I'm a very bad example then.... But it's on quiet in class!

I think it's okay with smaller pupils, but the older ones will see a teacher's mobile as a wonderful opportunity to start a discussion about why they need theirs on the desk, too, and anyway, we've recently decreed that mobiles must be switched off within the building - which goes for the pupils, not the teachers, but again - another opportunity for a discussion.

True. While at secondary school I wouldn't dare putting my mobile on my desk. There was that one time when I forgot to switch it off and someone actualy sent me a message. Luckily I had the cool students who told me: "Just check ma'am, maybe it's important." But I blushed, and told them everyone I know, knows they can't reach me during school hours.

This time of year I always feel so tired and burned out too - maybe it's the weather and the low light levels, and the cold, and the rain, rain, rain??? Or maybe it's the middle of the academic year and the end seems so far away?? LOL! I've had a few days like you've described just lately too.

I think it was mostly lack of sleep and yeah, school is stressful at the moment because of the classtrip drama and all the usual shit and the rain hasn't been helping either.

Still - today was much better. Three students missing from my class today and two of them are my usual troublemakers and it made a huge difference.
