It's contagious:

Date: 2007-01-28 11:18 am (UTC)Heee, I'm not used to being called a lady! Okay, here goes:
1) Tell you why I friended you.
If I recall correctly, you friended me first and then I friended you back because we know each other through mutual friends and I like your introspective posts.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
That's difficult. For some reason, I come up with Donnie Darko and the song associated with it.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
Your life has changed a lot in the last year.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
This might come as a bit of surprise to you... It's not your lifejournal question that introduced us to each other (and I confess I forgot what it was all about), but I've known your name for a bit longer through lurking on the not-BC&S and liking it because it's got a great sound.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
A peach.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
What would you like to do job-wise?
7) In return, you MUST spread this disease in your LJ.

Date: 2007-01-28 12:28 pm (UTC)And my life has changed a lot in the last five years. But yeah, things have certainly sped up for me this last one.
I want to be a play therapist. I specifically want to work with kids under five who have anger management and communication issues or family issues and people of all ages who are born with mental handicaps that cause them to have communication issues.
Also, I love Donnie Darko.

Date: 2007-01-28 12:57 pm (UTC)I can't say I really knew you before livejournal - it was more your name that stood out.
That job choice sounds really interesting and I think it's a good fit.

Date: 2007-01-28 12:02 pm (UTC)Oh, you don't have to! Coming late to the game, I can see that this is getting slightly repetitive.
I'll try nonetheless:
1) Tell you why I friended you.
That clan thing - and livejournal is great way of staying in contact.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
That's difficult, because you're a movie/music person. Not sure why, but the strongest association right now is the Robin and Marian movie.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
We're about the same height.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
It's got to be our hotel meeting in London. In the internet world: probably a big Spike discussion on the board.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
It's got to be a big cat - you can choose which one.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
I'm very curious about some aspects of your personal life, but an unlocked lj post is not the right place to ask, so I'll go with something completely different: Can you imagine leaving Paris and living abroad?
7) In return, you MUST spread this disease in your LJ.
You're safe. It's a virus that hits you only once.

Date: 2007-01-28 12:23 pm (UTC)Now it would be more difficult for me to leave Paris. It isn't just the place where I happen to live, it's my city. I can't imagine myself living anywhere else in France. As for living abroad, it's unlikely if I remain a History teacher.
But who knows? My life could change completely some day. There's an adventurous girl in me who's ready for many things...

Date: 2007-01-28 01:18 pm (UTC)1) Tell you why I friended you.
Because we have mutual friends and you are an articulate person who writes interesting posts.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
You are definitely a music person which makes it harder to choose a song. It would have to be bouncy with ska/punk elements. Possibly something by the Ärzte, but I can't think of a particular song.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
You've got a sister.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
Posts about music festivals.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
Chocolate. Toblerone. Ooops, that's neither an animal nor a fruit. Let me re-think that. Eine Gemse?
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
What's the language in your dreams? Swiss German or English or mixed?
7) In return, you MUST spread this disease in your LJ.

Date: 2007-01-28 02:14 pm (UTC)Haha, I actually have a Toblerone bar on my desk right now. Though in my defense, a friend gave it to me, as she doesn't like the Toblerone with dark chocolate.
I once tried to explain to Lijdrec what Gemsen are called in English, and the closest I came was some kind of mountain goat.
That's a good question, I'm not so sure of the answer. Maybe both? In fact I don't always dream in words, often I somehow percieve a certain atmosphere, or just get feelings from the people who tend to cross up, somehow getting the gist of what's going on without words. Does that make sense? And I suppose it also depends on if I'm associating with people I generally with speak with in English or German.

Date: 2007-01-28 04:26 pm (UTC)I remember that post vaguely and it's probably the reason I came up with it. I think they're called chamois and apparently now they're spelled Gämse? It's a good thing that I don't teach German...

1) Tell you why I friended you.
I think I friended you after meeting you. I knew you from the board anyway, but I was still new to livejournal then. You're a nice person!
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
Robbie Williams, but not Angels, you decide which song!
3) Tell a random fact about you.
You recently had a taking the cat to the vet adventure.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
You were at Rachel's when we turned up there.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
Cherries. Don't ask why, I don't know!
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
Hmmm. Can't come up with a good question right now.

Date: 2007-01-28 03:13 pm (UTC)Mmm. Cherries. Possibly my favourite fruit.

We already were BC&S friends.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
That's difficult! Oh! Das Veilchen.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
You've got curly hair.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
Realizing that there's a fellow European around on the board. Seeing you and Rachel at the train station in Berlin.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
Last time I said squirrel and I'll stick with that. You don't have to say it out loud.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
Oh, like with

Date: 2007-01-28 06:17 pm (UTC)On to number 6: A job. Bu it should be a very good one, because the social system over here is very very good. I don't think I would get it abroad unless I payed lots of money for it...
It is funny you ask this question, because the nature of P.'s current occupation is such that to have a splendid carreer he'll have to move abroad. Okay, only probably, but still... We did discuss this and when a certain amount of ifs are all met, we will take the leap and move abroad. We would even consider marrying if that's necessary. But that's something for the unforseeable future. :-)

1) Tell you why I friended you.
We met in one of Sharlemaine's threads about an icon-thief from Germany - you friended me, I had a wander around your journal and then friended you back, because you seem like an interesting person.
2) Associate you with a song/movie.
The one you sent me by accident.
3) Tell a random fact about you.
You sold one of your cars.
4) Tell a first memory about you.
You agreed with me that the icon-thief might be German.
5) Associate you with an animal/fruit.
It's got to be cat.
6) Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
It's more a rhetorical question showing my admiration: How did you manage to learn so much English in such a short time?
Re: It's never too late
Date: 2007-01-29 05:15 pm (UTC)I think there are two main reasons. Firstly, I have a "thing" for languages (I often thought it's got to do with not being tone-deaf, i.e. being able to hear the flow a language, even in written form), and secondly, I'm rather persistent. (I like the word waaay better than "stubborn". *g*)
If I recall it correctly, I've read the first story in English somewhere in autumn 2003. Then I read ever more, used every dictionary, lexicon and website about slang to understand what I'm reading, and continuously became more and more picky about the stories I read, choosing only the ones I couldn't correct already in the first paragraph. LOL.
It feels good to write and read in this language, so it's like a hobby for me. I just wish I could finally get to learn actual speaking. Yes, I know it's weird. It's what self tuition will do to you; too much good stories to read, too little audio books :)

A grapefruit.
