Anyone know how to do a raindance?

The promised thunderstorms never materialised. On Saturday we had a short drop in the temperature to about 25° C and the air smelled of the rain that the clouds had dumped elsewhere.

Currently there's a breeze and I'm enjoying that very much, but that won't help the wild brambles on the patch across the street. They're drying up and I'm glad that I'm not a farmer whose livelihood depends on his crops.

I'm dreaming of dancing in the soft summer rain. Alternatively, I'd settle for a huge big downpour that leaves the warm streets steaming. I love the particular smell when all the dust mixes with the rain and then settles on the ground.

I'm SO dying for rain and clouds. The temps dropped just a tad, but we never did get the rain.

I'll dance with you. I love rain. :-)

Yes, where is the rain?

At least our temperatures aren't quite as high as yours, but this summer heat has been going on for weeks now. Well, if we got an exceptionally rainy summer, I guess I'd be moaning about that - though not as much...

The many Native American tribes hold different traditions in their rain dances. However, a rain dance commonly features dancing in a circle, pouring of water, and whirling around acting like the wind. However, the Hopi Indians of NE Arizona have a rain dance with the added feature of a live venomous snake held in the mouth of the dancer. The Sioux Indians of the northern American Plains would dance four times around a jug of water then throw themselves to the ground and drink from the jug.

Lemme know if any of those work, our soybeans could use some rain.

As I don't have a snake at hand, I think I'll not do the Hopi version. Anyway, this may be seen as animal cruelty.

I'll definitely try the one with the jug of water.

We had a very short, less than five-minute shower earlier this morning. The sun didn't stop shining and there wasn't a rainbow - not enough rain, I suppose. I walked down all the stairs - I live on the fourth floor - to soak up the rain outside, but even though the raindrops were big, I didn't get that wet.
