sister_luckWhen we left the house, the sky was still blue and the sun was out. On the motorway we realized that we were travelling towards a big mass of dark-blue clouds full of rain or maybe sleet.
When we arrived at our destination - that one Dutch city where all Rhinelanders go to buy stuff on a Sunday - the hail was pouring down.
Last time I was there, we also ended up being soaked. Here is a mix of old and new pictures:

In summer I took this picture of one of Venlo's oldest buildings next to the modern architecture of the new Maasboulevard:
This is the town hall:
The kid got a new winter coat and a waffle. There were quite a few zwarte Pieten around, running around, handing out sweets and making music. I'm kind of glad the kid didn't register them.
Travelling home, there was still a clear line between good and bad weather:
