There are certain things I'll watch around Christmas because of nostalgia - like the 1980 version of Little Lord Fauntleroy starring Alec Guiness which as wikipedia rightly states has "become a Christmas classic in Germany". It is indeed possible that I saw it when it was first broadcast in 1982, sitting on my great-aunt's sofa where we used to spend our Christmas break.

But I certainly don't own the film and I guess that's the point of holiday movies, you don't need to buy them because they inevitably will be shown around Christmas.

So, I thought long and hard. Yes, we own The Wizard of Oz and that's one of those movies, too, that's traditionally shown around Christmas, but it's not quite a favourite.

Well, there is one film that features Christmas, has a kick-ass female heroine, and which I saw at the cinema when it first came out. As an added bonus it has got Samuel L. Jackson. It's The Long Kiss Goodnight and no, not in our DVD cupboard but I took a picture of how I found out about the film: The review in the very first edition of Neon, a short-lived British magazine subtitled mainlining movies. I've still got the complete run. Here is my pic:

Also, I'm adding a bonus picture to yesterday's post.
