A walk in the woods.

Have a picture from Saturday's very short walk in the local woods. Very short refers to distance, not to time, because the kid stops to investigate every stick, stone and fallen leaf. He does not care if his parents walk on with him staying behind - even though he's been read the story of Hänsel und Gretel repeatedly, as he requests it every other night. When we disappear from his sight, he is completely unfazed. (We've tried to hide from him in a park once, but passers-by spotted a lonely little boy playing around with dirt and started looking for his parents.) No amount of telling him about more interesting things 'over here' can get him to budge. The only things that will alarm him - with him letting out an almighty shriek - are dog-walkers and horse-riders, but that happens whether we are right next to him or not. Obviously, with the woods being a favourite site for both horse-riders and dog-walkers who sometimes let their dogs run around without a leash we stayed reasonably close to rescue him. And didn't cover much ground, so consequently it was a very short hike.
Discoveries made: brambles will scratch you. Items collected: two fine fir cones.
