A day in the snow.
Feb. 5th, 2012 08:34 pmToday I saw kids from Germany and Belgium sledding down a hill next to dragon's teeth left over from the Westwall, which is in English better known as the Siegfried line. (There was no washing hanging anywhere, it was much too cold.)

(I didn't get to take pictures of the sledding hill, but here are some more tank traps - they are a very stark reminder of the past with their weird shapes.)
Later, we went for a walk in a place that has got a Belgian postcode, but a German telephone area code.
There was also a very bijou little resort town that used to be called Montjoie.

And to show you how cold it is:

The Rur (without h!) or Roer.

Frozen stream. (Incidentally, it took me ages to figure out that a stream is a small river because a Strom in German is a big river that flows into the sea.)
