Baltic adventures Part II.
Oct. 24th, 2011 08:31 pmThe first night was fairly uneventful - there was some patrolling the corridors, threatening the noise makers with not taking them on the boat trip (if they'd known then what they knew after...) and when we went to bed there was still some illicit sneaking between girls' and boys' rooms. We know because they told us afterwards.
The morning started with a walk along the beach. There was some complaining (as usual) and some girls convinced us that they were too ill to come with us. I think it was just Dontwannawalkitis... This is what they missed:

After an early lunch we rushed to the boat to go on a trip to see the famous chalk cliffs. The sea wasn't exactly calm but no worse than the average Channel crossing. The boat was full of grannies who turned green and some of our kids didn't agree with all the rolling and rocking either. I spent most of the trip holding the hand of the one little boy who actually threw up (copiously, in the sick bags provided). He was very proud afterwards! One of my colleagues had done the boat trip a couple of years ago and was dead set against it - several of his students got seasick and he didn't feel that great either - and he opted to stay behind this time, but he couldn't convince me to cancel.
When we boat trip was finally over we didn't exactly reach dry land - it was pouring down with rain and we got soaked through.
