Eskimos and crafts.

sister_luckThere's been this campaign by the German Craftsmen Association to jazz up their image. They kept telling us we'd be living like cavemen if it hadn't been for for all those wonderful people building stuff for us. Most of the posters and tv commercials were rather ham-handed. People weren't really impressed by scenes of completely devastated cityscapes - shown on television right after there had been actual natural disasters.
Now they've done it again telling us on one of their garishly coloured blue-pink and white posters (here's an example with another silly slogan) that
Die Eskimos haben 90 Wörter für Schnee. Die Deutschen haben 130 für Handwerk.
(The Eskimos have 90 words for snow. The Germans have 130 for crafts.)
Yeah, right. No, they don't. And I don't get that part about German either: it probably refers to the fact that there are about 130 different professions that can be defined as crafts.
