Exhausted.
Jun. 9th, 2011 07:44 pmI've got a long weekend coming up, with lots of marking to do.
School has been exhausting this week for various reasons:
This kind of hot and humid weather should only be allowed during the school holidays. Some parts of our building become intolerable for people who are not accustomed to heat. And it makes everyone crazy.
There have been teenage shenanigans, disruptive behaviour and general silliness. One example:
During lesson today one girl lets off a high-pitched squeal: "Oouch, you're hurting me." Turns out she and the boy sitting at the same table had been engaging in a pinching session.
Both get to do some extra translation practice to make up for not paying attention.
When I talk to her about her behaviour after class, she goes teenage diva on me. "Why can't we have some fun? We were only having some fun."
That's the standard excuse at the moment.
"But it's fun."
Other things that are fun:
Trying on other people's glasses during the lesson.
Singing in the lesson.
Calling each other names.
Throwing pens, pencil-cases and whatever you can reach.
Hitting each other.
Yes, it'll pass, this part of puberty is not endless, but there are still several weeks to go before this year's very late holidays.
