I still haven't done the "quirky habits meme" I was tagged for by [livejournal.com profile] chrissie_linnit.

Excuses? Many - lots of work, slight apathy and a certain inability to see my own quirks. I even asked around but only got to hear about my bad habits - like throwing my clothes on the floor next to the bed. Which leads us to

1. Once I've been informed of a bad habit, I cherish it and won't let go - even if I know that it's bad. It's mine. It makes me special. Deal with it.

2. I doodle. It helps me focus, especially in boring meetings. I draw intricate floral designs. Words that crop up often enough will be transformed into graffiti pieces.

3. I love hot showers. In the mornings I need them to wake up. I like the sound of the water flowing on my head. I can remember that when I was a kid and went to the swimming pools I showered for ages, pushing that button again and again. (We only had a bath-tub at home.)

4. Sitting on a chair properly is difficult for me. Best way to sit is with my feet on the chair. Or with one foot tucked under. Or at least with one leg over the other and one foot wrapped around the leg. Which can make standing up really painful. And I tend to fidget.

5. I don't see the point of handles on mugs or cups. Much more practical to put your hand around the cup and nurse it. Added bonus when drinking hot beverages: warm hands. Bad manners, but I don't care..

It's not really mind-boggling though.

People that doodle in meetings drive me crackers! Not because their doodling is disrespectful or anything like that, but more because I find myseld watching the doodler, doodle... and eventually I lose track of what's going on that I should be paying attention to and become fixated on trying to pre-guess what the doodler is doodling or where he/she will draw next...

And, MiniLinnit is like you with chairs. I'm forever telling him to turn the office chair around and sit on it properly, because he kneels on it and puts his chin on the back when he's working... looks awful, and must be bad for his posture.

Well, my posture is pretty bad anyway.

Hmm. Never really thought about the doodling's distracting effect. I always try to incorporate it into my notes, so that it isn't too obvious what I'm doing.
