I did my bit today and voted in the federal elections.
The result wasn't really a surprise, but I am miffed at the low voter turn-out - especially in my neighbourhood - less than 40 percent. ETA: Overall voter turnout is currently at about 60 percent which is not nearly enough in my opinion.
Thanks to the internet I can now see exactly how many people in my area voted for which party about half an hour after the polls have closed.
This is the first election that might directly impact my job - I work at a comprehensive school and as the incoming government opposes these for mostly ideological reasons we will probably find ourselves with less money to spend.
