It's time to use my frost icon again. This morning I had to scrape ice off my windscreen and it was a a lot. The air temperature was still - just - above zero degrees C, but rain or dew had frozen in huge drops on the windows of my car. I was late for school of course.
We're in conference season and there are meetings with parents as well and then I managed to have a calm telephone call with a student's mother who was outraged that a classmate had insulted her daughter at school - again! She'd already let off steam with the secretary - she had threatened to go public with the fact that we can't protect her daughter who always finds herself in the middle of slanging matches with her classmates. Might have something to do with the fact that what should be civil request to close the door coming from her sounds like a declaration of war. She is as catty as her mother. (I once made the mistake of mentioning that to her...) Still, I dutifully told her I would investigate the incident. Which I'm going to do, as the other party in question has got the social skills of a troll - and we have a meeting scheduled with his father anyway. By the way, I'm not teaching kindergarten or primary school...
