So, we went shopping today in affluent big city that used to be our home. I'm not going to tell you about the ridiculous amount of money we spent, I need to vent about someone. (And I'm afraid she's a type and I know I'm being terribly unfair here.)

See, after all our shopping we headed back to the parking garage under the classy furniture and design place and while we stood there waiting for the elevator this mother came with her toddler in tow (and of course they had a Bugaboo buggy - they're ubiquitous in affluent big city) and she was shouting at him: "Come on, Dorian, we need to be quick!" and that was the exact moment the elevator doors opened and guess who went right in leaving us to wait for another one? Mom gave us this look, saying 'I guess I was just faster than you lame people'. We already didn't like her. We are mean like that.
We exchanged looks and took the next lift down. And there she was standing in front of the ticket machine and she was half-talking to her little kid and half-talking to everyone who would listen: "There is something wrong with this machine. We came in at 11.13 and now it's ten past two we shouldn't have to pay for four hours! The time is all wrong on this machine." (That's why she was in such a hurry wanting to make it before she had to pay another 2€ for the next hour. Yes, it's damn expensive.) Then she proceeded to press the "Help"-button and started arguing with the person at the other end. Exasperated, the woman promised to send someone. And Dorian's mother blocked me from paying, keeping her ticket in the machine, telling me to just take the lift down another floor and pay at the machine there. By now, Dorian was getting restless and a little embarrassed.
And while I was on my way down to the next machine I realized that I didn't have enough cash on me and had to return to baby and father who were already in the process of getting into the car - thankfully parked very close to the staircase. I grabbed more money, took the next lift, which didn't go down, instead it went up and I ended up at the second floor before I was allowed down again. And this was all because of that woman! I haven't got a clue how it all ended - she was still arguing with the guy from the garage when I came back.
And no, of course, the problem was with her - the time stamp on her ticket and the ticket machine of course were on the same time, it was her car's clock that was off. And you should always check the time on the ticket, because that's what counts. Yes, I'm someone who is all for sticking up for customers' rights, but that was ridiculous and I doubt that she's someone who would miss 2€ in her pocket. I get that she hurried to make it on time, but tough luck!
