Rambling Lost thoughts:

They've all been running away. Every single one of the characters (with a backstory). Running away from their past, running away from themselves, from the circumstances of their lives. Trying to escape their past or what they perceived as their destiny.
Now they're all trapped on the island and can't run anymore - or not very far. The island forces them to face themselves, their demons, their past - in the shape of the fellow lost ones, but also in the shape of monsters and visions.
Remember Desmond who was training for his run around the world? He somehow ended up in that hatch with nowhere to run anymore - until he was freed and chose to run again - I wonder how far he will get.
And I cannot shake the feeling that the fact that all these people crashed on this island and met each other is somehow more than coincidence.
In a way it doesn't matter - the residents of the island have to cope with what is thrown at them. Locke seems to be the most accepting of the bunch - he has embraced the island as it offers him his fantasy. He believes that the island is his destiny. Eko cautioned Locke on mistaking coincidence for fate. But if it is neither fate nor coincidence, it might be design.
I'm kind of conflicted about this - on the one hand I very well know that all the connections between the characters can easily be explained with the rule of six degrees of separation. On the other hand the ongoing experiment suggests there is some sort of entity behind the curtain.
So, we're going to get some sort of incident, because Michael used the computer for more than just *cue spooky voice* THE NUMBERS. The wording is so wonderfully vague that of course the islanders will believe that whatever bad is happening to them must be the incident.
I'm a bit worried about Rose and Bernard - Rose didn't strike me as the running kind and now that she's reunited with her husband she seems like she is ready to be sacrificed to the island. Or Bernard will be snatched from her again.
