My questions from
curlymynci:
1. What was your most embarrassing teenage crush?
For a while, I had this obsession with Julian Cope - not your typical teenage crush (and it wasn't a crush in the sense that I wanted to be his girlfriend) ... Still, there was some embarrassing fangirling - I'm sort of glad that this was before the days of the 'net.
My daydreaming about romantic encounters was heavily influenced by Federica de Cesco's [link to German wikipedia] writing and thus always incorporated a non-white boyfriend, preferably a Native American.
2. What would you say is your strongest value?
I value loyalty and honesty, but I've experienced the shortcomings of both. There are limits to both and while I've been too loyal in the past, I'm sometimes not honest enough, not least with myself.
3. If you could recommend one book, tv series or film to somebody, what would it be?
It depends so much on the person! Finding something universally appealing is hard and right now I can't think of anything that everyone absolutely must have read/watched.
4. Imagine somebody is making a speech about you at your 80th birthday party. What do you hope they would say about your life?
Her life has had its ups and downs, but she took both in her stride. She has always tried to be kind and with time, she has learned to be more patient with herself and others. She knows about her failings which keeps her from repeating them.
5. What is your nostalgic kids TV series of choice?
I've got very fond memories of Little House on the Prairie, but I wouldn't want to re-watch it, because I'd probably find too much I don't like. For re-watching - arte is showing Hallo Spencer at the moment, the German muppets, basically. Not as good as the original of course, but fun nonetheless.
