Being cautious is a good thing, but it can be a little nerve-wracking. I didn't look at the big flatscreen monitor during the exam - I kept my eyes closed most of the time or just stared at the ceiling. Now and then I turned my head a little to get a reassuring glance from the husband. Little clicks told me the doctor was measuring something, a femur, the head or maybe the abdomen. A swooshy sound from the doppler told me she was checking the umbilical cord and the other blood supplies.

It took a while, but then she declared everything to be fine.

Little one doesn't have much space in my uterus unicornis, so he's getting squished so much that his belly is oval instead of round, but he doesn't seem to mind. He's on the small side - which isn't a surprise because his parents are anything but giants - and even if you don't take that into account he's still within the norm. The measurements were automatically transferred from the ultrasound machine to the computer and taking my height and pre-pregnancy weight as further parameters it calculated a current weight of 2437 gm. Which is absolutely fine. Yay! Placenta, blood flow etc were no cause for concern.

We will be keeping an eye on things - it's very cramped in there after all and if he stops growing because of that, he's better off outside. So, as long as he doesn't declare he wants out, he's staying where he is and we'll check up on his growth again next week.
