We don't do things the normal way.
Aug. 5th, 2009 04:55 pmSo, we got married yesterday. Our immediate family was present and there were only one or two very brief moments when the thought of "We should have eloped" went through my head.
Like on the way back, in the subway train: my parents tied a white and green ribbon to one of the poles in the carriage and then when a pretty girl unwittingly sat next to me, my brother tried telling her that she was in the middle of a wedding party and she of course thought that he was hitting on her! (Which he totally didn't understand. She should have realized that he was taking a picture of the bride and groom and not of her.)
So, a very non-traditional wedding it was. Very nice actually, with the ceremony much much better than expected - the clerk at the registry office found exactly the right words. There might have been slightly wet eyes...

In case you're wondering, the rings in the picture above are not the real deal - they weren't finished yesterday. In fact, we just collected the real ones from the jewellers' where we had ordered them last week. No, this wasn't entirely spontaneous, we just hadn't found the right people to make our rings until then. They're very simple wedding bands made out of white gold. Today being a hot day, mine doesn't fit right now. The rings in the picture were bought on Monday at a hardware store for 1.99€ the set in the plumbing supplies aisle.
In other news, I go to an ultrasound specialist tomorrow, because my doctor is worried about the little one not growing enough. He hasn't grown as much as expected in the last three weeks according to the ultrasounds she did and she wants to play it safe. If indeed there's cause for concern, he will have to come out early. But then both us come from families of small to tiny folks and everything else looked okay. We're trying not to worry.
