Hospital date yesterday went well - didn't get looked at, but the little booklet with all my data and prenatal appointments was scrutinized. Doctor (the cute version of George Clooney) was impressed with how far we've come after reading about the anatomy of my uterus and he barely kept his professional curiosity in check when I showed him pictures of my insides taken during last November's operation. I've grown used to that reaction - I first got it for my back (two fused vertebrae) and now it's for my reproductive tract (left side not quite there). At least he didn't call his colleagues to look at the interesting spinal specimen like the doctor who was supposed to assess whether I was fit to be a civil servant...

It showed me again how lucky I've been, getting all this support from my regular doctor and managing to get pregnant again so fast. Both the doctor and his assistant asked whether there'd been any fertility treatment involved. The hospital consultant was a lot less worried about my cervix than my regular doctor, especially now that we're past 34 weeks which means the little one's lungs should be fully developed. He seemed happy for me to try to give birth naturally, though he agrees with my ob/gyn that this might prove difficult. We'll see.

Met midwife today - she seemed nice and pragmatic, quite down-to-earth. Technically I could interview several more, but I think I'll stick with her.

We've also ordered some things, bought others and still have a list of stuff to get.

As the car seat won't arrive for another two or three weeks, I hope that the baby will stay put until then at least (and ideally for a little while longer).
