So, second open evening today: this time at the hospital attached to local university. Rooms are nicer and everything looks a bit more cheery. Downside is that the neonatal unit is in another building, but even that's less than 100m away. Tomorrow we will look at our third option. We are spoiled for choice.

But it's getting urgent that we make our decision. My doctor goes on holiday for a fortnight next week and today's checkup has us a little worried. Cervix is shortening - though still within normal parameters, ultrasound was fine (after all the measurements the computer put the little one's weight at about 2000 gms) but the CTG showed contractions which are most likely just normal practice contractions, but doctor tut-tutted and asked me to come in on Friday for another monitoring. Heart-rate was fine apparently. As I don't really feel these contractions - I can't tell the difference between the little one sticking out his bum and my belly hardening - I'm simultaneously not worried (it doesn't hurt) and panicking (what if it's serious and I don't even notice?). Though I'm telling myself that I'll know when it's time to go to hospital.

The plan is to make an appointment next week at the hospital of our choice to let them know that I want to give birth there and for me to get a checkup there and hopefully get sent home after discussing my special anatomy and the usual information dump/consent form distribution.
