Finally...
Apr. 7th, 2009 08:31 am...the magnolias are in bloom.
Taken yesterday and much did I suffer for it. I wore the wrong shoes and found my heels were rubbed raw after five minutes of walking, but I'd already made it to the park and I would get to the magnolias, even if it meant going barefoot. I like walking around in bare feet, so it wasn't that big a deal, but the first outing in the spring is always a bit of an experience. After taking the pictures, I realized that I had been too hard on myself and the easiest option was to just keep wearing the shoes with the back part folded down. That did the trick.

Date: 2009-04-07 08:20 am (UTC)I'm having bad luck with shoes as well - I'm normally a 37 when it comes to heels and a 38 with everything else but a pair of pumps and ballerinas that I bought in 37 have both left me blistered after half an hour each. :(

I think the shoes thing is mainly going back to summery shoes after the long winter break and wearing thinner socks - it happens to me every year when I start re-activating my spring footwear. (That said, I might also be getting bigger feet, but as I've been wearing really comfy shoes for the past months, my feet are just not used to ballerinas and such like.)

As to the blisters, it's probably one of the rites of spring and has replaced the first skinned knee (sure sign it was getting warmer) from my childhood... I seem to remember that the scab was seen as a badge of honour.
