Spring in the park.
Mar. 31st, 2009 08:17 pmIt was a gorgeous day today - cold in the morning, but sunshine and blue skies throughout. Yesterday was nearly as good, but with some clouds in the afternoon. There's spring in the air, finally!
After a sort-of-productive day yesterday (ironing! folding away laundry! re-watching the two last Dollhouse episodes!), I was mostly lazy today, except for mending the small split that I discovered in the thigh seam of my new jeans.
I bring you pictures, taken yesterday and today in the park.
The magnolias still don't quite trust the weather. This picture was taken yesterday and today, the blooms were tinged with a little more pink, but still not ready to open.

The wood anemones are out to greet the sun:

Broken shell of a bird's egg:

Perfect spot to read the paper:

Blue flowers, blue skies:

Date: 2009-03-31 08:17 pm (UTC)The cherry blossom isn't out yet - which is my favourite blossom, but it's still early. We have daffodils though!

Date: 2009-04-01 10:36 am (UTC)Yes, the trees in general are a bit reluctant to show their blossoms here, too, but I guess that's going to happen in the next couple of days.

Date: 2009-04-02 07:07 pm (UTC)Yes, soon it won't be frost on my windshield to worry about, but being extra careful under which trees I park.
Here, the green is only just starting to appear (today was warm!).

Date: 2009-04-03 09:20 am (UTC)Today seems like it's going to be a fine day again.
Yes, I was joking to the boyfriend about what people would wear if we were in England instead of Germany... Generally speaking, Germans are a bit more reluctant to go about shirtless or in short skirts at the first sight of the spring sun. My theory is that school uniforms play a major part in this phenomenon, because a) you get used to skirts in cold weather and b) your clothing choices tend to get more extreme anyway. In NZ, it was even more noticeable: there, the boys wore uniform shorts all year round, even with hoar frost on the ground.

Date: 2009-04-03 01:37 pm (UTC)*laugh* I get very cold easily, so I was always cold in my skirt & woolly tights in school. So I am generally more covered more than most people (I have been known to be comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt when everyone else is sweltering in shorts!) but just recently I am quite comfy in skirts & sheer tights.
I feel sorry for boys in shorts in winter - my Dad had to wear shorts for school when he was a kid and tells me it was horrible - he lived in Durham, so it was cold in the winters!

But the boys in NZ were allowed to wear long trousers, they just didn't because they didn't want to be seen as wimps. There were about three boys who wore long trousers and one of them was a German exchange student...
