I'm back!

I disappeared for a while from the internet and went on holiday. Yep, fairly spontaneous as always, but nevertheless much-needed. We booked the hotel on Tuesday and left for a couple of days in Berlin on Wednesday morning. Got back on Sunday evening and I needed yesterday to catch up on what's been going on in the world.

There will be picspam and accounts of what we did and saw, but right now I don't really know where to start, so ask me questions and I'll answer them.

I don't know what to ask! Perhaps you could start with the hotel and its surroundings?

How was the sky? Did you get to see interesting skies, unusual or worthy of a photograph?

We stayed in a cheap hotel (basic but very clean) out in the sticks but fairly close to an underground station so getting into the centre wasn't a problem. Actually, the hotel was more or less on an industrial estate, which sounds worse than it was. It was in an old turn-of-the-last-century-brick building with huge windows and high ceilings. It was clear that it was an old factory and apparently rifles and pistols were manufactured there.

The sky was mostly blue, with some clouds which sometimes looked threatening, but there was only one small but violent shower on Saturday.

Ohhh...I thought you were going to answer with pictures! I thought that the questions were supposed to trigger a pic spam or something.

I couldn't decide whether I was going to post chronologically or by themes or something, so yes, in a way questions could have led to picspam, but I was also looking for more of a general sort of questions.

I meant to take a picture of the hotel, but didn't get round to it. :-(

That depends on your definition of cool. I liked sitting around at the alternative beach place next to the East Side Gallery, the exact same place that the above icon is from. Also, we were part of the huge Obama crowd.
