I owe you picspam! )

More prompts to come: Wistful. I might have something for that. Exposé. I think I need help with this one.

With the absence of prompts I've had to find my own topic on which to do a Portugal Picture Post. I've decided to go with something that is very popular on the internet.

Lots of cats and a dog )

Prompts? Please?

That last post wasn't as vibrant as I hoped.

In hindsight, the evening setting makes it look rather sombre.

Let's try again - this time with colours!

This is Lantana camara, which is a popular ornamental plant in Germany, especially because the flowers change colour during the summer. I was surprised to see them grown as hedges or as shrubs in the wild, but Wikipedia informs me that it is an invasive species in many warmer countries.

Even though I wasn't happy with how I answered that prompt, I wouldn't mind getting more from you!

Your prompts are challenging me to think about my pictures - and they mean you don't get the usual collection of day-by-day picture spam.

So, [livejournal.com profile] comava gave me 'vibrant' - an adjective often used about cities, colours or sounds. Sounds don't photograph well and as to colours, the flower post took care of that, so it had to be a city picture from Lagos, Portugal.

(In case you're wondering, that Nigerian city was - probably - named after the place in Portugal and yes, the slave trade is something that is slowly being addressed in Lagos.)

This is one of Lagos' many squares and the one with the best street entertainers. Last year, we saw giant soap bubbles there.

This guy was pretty good amd I may post more pictures but they need a little work to make them presentable.

Here is the next instalment of my Portugal pics.

The prompt was Architecture: )

Please throw more prompts at me - I don't mind a bunch of them and they could be anything! I'll think of something.

I'm doing picture requests - just ask, I might just have it.

The Algarve was great again, different in small ways and we managed to find new places, but also found out that we'd lost one that was dear to our heart.

The airbrush paintings on fairground attractions fascinate me. They are the last vestige of the tradition of hand-painted representations of popular culture. Cinemas used to employ painters to make billboards advertising their films - bigger than the standard movie posters but using similar images. (And even the regular cinema posters didn't have photos but painted versions of the photos.) Today there is only photoshop.

On our recent holiday in Portugal there was also a huge fair which we visited in the daytime when it was still closed. I took some pictures of the bumper car ride - I must warn you that whoever did the pictures isn't that good with likenesses but a big fan of sexism.

Sexism and pop-culture: NSFW )

Laugh or cry?
I suppose ridicule is the best option.

So, I took too many pictures of doorknockers and now I'm so very tempted to have some very bad wordplay in my picspam post.

Much, too much. )
