sister_luckYes, this is getting repetitive - all I ever do is post pictures of Sunday outings or so it seems.
The weather has been lovely, with some really rather warm days and while the temperatures have dropped somewhat we still have blue skies and sunshine. Very welcome after quite a few grey and rainy days. Hence the greenery is exploding and the birds are doing their thing and the first bees have been sighted, too.
Our Sundays have included a short bike ride along the river, so here are some of the pictures.
Let's start with a flower in a very green meadow:
I know this as Wiesenschaumkraut and wikipedia tells me it is a cuckooflower. I've also learned that it was said to be sacred to the fairies and so it was considered unlucky if brought indoors. Good to know, as a single stem is sitting next to me which was a gift from the kid. Thanks kid!
Next up, two pictures of the same place - our local Renaissance palace, on an etching in our living room and the real deal:
I tried to get the same angle:
Back to colour:
One of the resident peacocks displays his colourful train.
And now to the duck families at the ponds in the other direction - there was a family of Egyptian geese and another less exotic mallard family, though I only took a picture of the mother with her kids:
Can you see how the colour of the ducklings combined with the ripples of the water make for quite some camouflage? Also, they are a little out of focus and I pretend that is the reason...
The Egyptian geese - which I first mistook for mandarin ducks - are a very recent arrival around here. I think this is the male with the out of focus babies hiding in the grass:
Here is a picture of the parents with one of the goslings:
