Because this day is cold and the blue sky and sun we had earlier has turned to grey and rain, here are some holiday pictures to remind me of the summer heat and the sea.





This is at Ponta da Piedade where we did the touristy thing and made a boat trip to visit the caves and grottoes and see the arcs and rock formations.

Of course, the point of a boat trip isn't taking pictures, it is the whole experience - the boat rocking on the waves, looking up at the towering cliffs, the captain taking the boat into the tiniest of openings and once inside you are surprised by the huge cathedral-like space and the glow of the blue water, being told that this rock looks like an elephant (yes, it actually did) or like a camel (that needed a little more imagination).

But these things don't come across on mobile phone pictures taken by someone who wants to enjoy the trip, so you just have to trust me that we saw all this.
