Going away.
Aug. 12th, 2012 02:57 pmSome things about our short vacation:
I got to swim in the sea - with proper waves and all.
We stayed in a tiny hotel room on the eighth floor with an ancient lift which meant a lot of waiting especially at breakfast time.
Combining city break and beach holiday turned out to be a good idea, even though I first wanted to stay in picturesque smaller place.
Where of course all hotels were fully booked - "Except maybe for that one place", the nice woman told us at the tourist information, "but I can't reach them by phone, why don't you just walk over there?" Only to find out that there was no hotel there, just a big empty house with a sign saying 'to buy'.
So, city it was, with the tiny port and the long promenade and the crumbling art deco.
There was even a free concert by an old favourite band from the 80s, but a little boy's trouser accident prevented us from listening to more than the first song. And the boy was the one who was adamant that he wanted to stay for the 'dudu' (music).
There was lots of ice cream, of course, kite-flying and building of sand castles.
Pictures when I have my camera again, which is still in the car.
