Fluff.

German-style paper tissues in the washing machine are a nuisance, and once you've had to clean off the bits and bobs they leave behind on every item of clothing, you become very conscientious about checking pockets for stragglers.

Or at least that's what I remember. I think today's paper tissues are made of sturdier stuff and don't disintegrate quite as spectacularly. But today I found out that there is indeed something that does it better even than paper tissues.

Disposable nappies! They produce loads of fluff and other residue on your clothing. Don't ask me why and how one ended up between today's load of dirty clothing, as I haven't got a clue and it sure wasn't intentional.
