Dear Service Technician Person,
we were told that you would come to our house today to have a look at the faulty kitchen cabinets that were installed several weeks ago. So far, you haven't shown up. We called the company who sold us the kitchen. They can't reach you. They don't expect you to turn up after five o'clock, so we're giving you another hour.
If it turns out that you made it as far as our front door, you fail at doorbell etiquette.
There are three name tags with our names. Each can be pressed to ring the bell in three different parts of the house. It should be common sense to try all of them. Or at least wait a little until one of the occupants has made it downstairs to investigate whether that faint sound they heard was indeed a doorbell.
Also, you do have a mobile phone, which you don't seem to be answering, but you could have used it to tell us
a) when you're arriving
b) that you've arrived and no one is answering the door
or
c) that you're not arriving at all.
Yours,
Still waiting.
