Last weekend we had blue skies and the last days of sunshine - Sunday was warm and we even sat outside with the boyfriend's parents on their backporch.
The start of the week was different - quite appropriate, because I had to go back to school.
There's a lot of fog in the mornings and the drive to work is an eerie affair. Usually I can see for miles across the even fields, but in this weather everything around me disappears. I can make out the trees lining the road, but even they're smoothed away by all that white. It's lonely. There are other cars around but I don't see much of them - their headlights are faint yellow-white dots in a sea of white, their tail-lights a dim red. Crossing the bridge I can hardly make out the river underneath. I know it's there. Like the houses and the fields and the trees, but for all I know they might have gone. The space I occupy seems to be the only solid thing around.
School is tiring and getting up early doesn't agree with me at all. I spent too long today at the garage to have my tires changed. I had an appointment at a quarter past one, but I waited nearly 30 minutes until someone was kind enough to take my key to get started. Another two minutes and I'd been out of there.
