I guess this isn't in the least bit interesting for you, but I want to document the renovations of our future home where the domestic archaeology is continuing.

There's a hidden drawing and wallpaper that was once considered fashionable, then declared to be ugly and now it's back in fashion again. More wallpaper - blue flowers in two versions. Beams and bricks and clay plaster.

We've got someone ripping out the old doors and door frames. The small stuff like stripping wallpaper and fixing holes in the walls we do ourselves. Yesterday the team consisted of most of our immediate family - one grandparent was at work and thus missing.

Without the door frames the structure of the walls becomes apparent:

Under the plaster there are the typical red bricks and under the sliding doors this lovely wallpaper came to light. I wouldn't mind a slightly updated version of it in the living room - one wall only though. Notice the specks of dust flying around - the old door had just been ripped off the wall by our tiny German Portuguese carpenter. Let's hope he enjoys building stuff as much as destroying it.

In the same room I found more old wallpaper:

Blue flowers seem to be a theme for kitchen decorating through the ages.

And lastly, after the door frames were removed between the two front rooms, I noticed that someone had left us a little something: Two small holes in the beam had inspired this person to draw the face of a man with a hat.

Maybe he's the house's lucky spirit. Or just the creation of a bored child.
