A meme, a couple of links and the weather report.
We finally got our thunderstorm at 2.45 in the morning and then ran to close all the windows. Now it's a fairly humid and overcast 29°C with the occasional bit of rain. Much better.
My job has now been officially characterised as 'the least boring' according to a recent survey. I agree wholeheartedly, apart from some boring administrative duties.
I love all those cultural oddities and sometimes you can even get answers on where they come from: The two taps mystery or why we continental Europeans think that British bathrooms are a bit behind the times (see question two). Several other continental concerns are addressed as well by this open letter from the Guardian to Polish plumbers. But some puzzles remain: The 99s question left unanswered.
1. Elaborate on your default icon:
It's a picture by German illustrator Wolf Erlbruch. He's wonderfully creative.
2. What's your current relationship status?
Happily living in sin.
3. Ever have a near-death experience?
Not as such, but I managed to nearly drown myself a couple of times.
4. Name an obvious quality you have.
I'm small.
5. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
It's pretty quiet up there at the moment.
6. Name a celebrity you would marry:
Johnny Depp.
7. Who will cut and paste this first?
There aren't many virgins left and this meme isn't interesting enough to be done twice.
8. Has anyone ever said you look like a celebrity?
No, and I'm glad about that. My cousin had the "You look like Romy Schneider" burden placed upon her and I don't think it was good for her.
9. Do you wear a watch? What kind?
Not right now, but at school I wear a simple one with a brown leather strap and a silver-coloured body.
10. Do you have anything pierced?
Ears. One left, two right, but I rarely wear studs, let alone ear-rings.
11. Do you have any tattoos?
No.
12. Do you like pain?
No, but I like the slightly painful feeling you get when you stretch your muscles.
13. Do you like to shop?
Clothes: Yes, if I find stuff that fits. Books and music: Always, but I get outraged at the prices. Groceries: Yes, if there's quality and choice.
14. What was the last thing you paid for with cash?
Groceries.
15. What was the last thing you paid for with your credit card?
I've only got a debit card which is awkward for internet shopping. Last time I used it was either for clothes or books.
16. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone?
A colleague of mine to arrange a meeting.
17. What is on your desktop background?
Just regular blue.
18. What is the background on your cell phone?
Don't think I've got one apart from the standard one.
19. Do you like redheads?
Huh? As people they're not different from the rest of us. As far as attractiveness goes, it depends on the colour. Not very many people can pull of a very bright carrot-colour.
20. Do you know any twins?
My stepmum is a twin. I teach a twin.
21. Do you have any weird relatives?
Yep, though mostly they're not really related to me and I'm glad that I'm not sharing the same gene-pool.
22. What was the last movie you watched?
At the cinema? No idea. It's been a while. We might go and see that Pirate thing tonight with my actor-boyfriend.
23. What was the last book you read?
I'm still reading VALIS by Philipp K. Dick. Last book I finished was The Well of Lost Plots by Jasper Fforde.
