Heroes in German.
Heroes has started on German television after a spectacular advertising campaign. Just to illustrate, today I spotted a taxi with Heroes advertising and saw a huge billboard with a cast poster.
They've kept the original title which is the done thing - the titles of television series aren't usually translated into German. So we've got Lost, Desperate Housewives and Prison Break on our tv schedules. Sadly, that's the only thing they don't translate and everything is dubbed. You've heard me ranting about this often enough, but with Heroes they've surpassed themselves. I only saw about thirty seconds of it, but that was enough. Hiro and Ando speak German with each other! No subtitles, no Japanese, just German with a slight Asian accent. Guh! That is half the charm of Hiro and Ando that they speak Japanese and that they're subtitled. (I think with Lost they kept the Korean, because otherwise it wouldn't have made any sense whatsoever. Though they messed up Killing Zoe by having everything in German and only giving the main character an American(!) accent when he was speaking French in the original. That was utterly confusing.)
As to the last episode:
No silly Irish storyline which was a relief. Claire and West's romance is slightly disturbing - I don't like him and it's all so clichéd. Nice twist about Matt's father. Mohinder was less annoying than in previous episodes. Nathan's beard has gone. Is he getting his act together? Woohoo Sylar! He's scary even without powers. Maya is much too trusting.

Trust me, this was so obvious that it was going to happen that it's not really a spoiler. The second episode was much better says the boyfriend but I'm not sure because I fell asleep (but that happened because I had had a bit of a migraine earlier).
It's nice and light entertainment, but sometimes the father-daughter relationship and the way it was presented (talking at the end of episode with singer-songwriter music underneath) wasn't exactly interesting.
