Lice? Pah!
I mentioned lice the other day and the resulting hysteria. It's not unusual and definitely not the first time this has happened to one of my pupils.
Yesterday I was informed by the department head that a student in my form has the non-contagious form of a well-known infectious lung disease. All the parents have to be informed - this time by the local health authority, but luckily there is no need for screening everyone. Now we've got to find strategies to calm everyone down and make sure that the kid is not shunned by her classmates when she comes back next week. What with the brochure about lice and the info sheet on measles that we handed out this week we hope that the new info won't raise too many eyebrows.
On top of that, we also had two meetings with parents - and one of them was straight from the pop psychologist's handbook; there was a meeting related to the upcoming exams AND I managed to miss a meeting about new courses which that far-away place, the ministry for education, wants us to develop.
So, hurrah for a long weekend!
And on a totally different note (bad pun alert!) we've bought a very cheap wireless doorbell which contains the most awesome Midi-style renditions of classic melodies as signals. *wipes away tears of laughter*
