sister_luckYesterday, in the park, near the ponds, an unearthly sound could be heard. Ribbit doesn't do it justice. Quak, quak seems too laid-back. This was guttural, petulant, ear-splitting.
Who would have thought something so tiny could make such a racket?
They didn't care about the people around them and allowed us to get really close. No wonder, they had their minds elsewhere and making all that noise must be exhausting. So, this picture didn't need any cropping:

I wanted to get a good shot of the inflated vocal sacs, but this the best I managed - and I've only included it for the zoological aspect - as a photograph it's not much:
